Naomi’s Fund originated from God’s promise in Romans 8:28, “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.” Our daughter Naomi Elaine died at birth on June 8, 2004 from an umbilical cord accident. It was rare and nothing apart from God’s intervention could have changed the outcome of her birth.

As the years have passed I can say that I would not change that tearful day if it would effect the miraculous way God used our grief to change our hearts and lives. Andy and I know God over came our despair and grief by igniting a passion in us for adoption. A passion that was a small flame that had been flickering my entire life. It quickly became apparent that God was telling us the rest of our family would come through adoption. So rather than Andy and I trying to have another biological child we headed down the challenging and sometimes unsure road of adoption to the rest of our family. Mia Hope joined our family in September, 2005 at birth through a domestic adoption and Sophie joined us a few months later in March, 2006 from China. Both adoptions were undeniably miraculous. Amazing that we went from a family of three to a family of five in a few short months. God is good.

Andy and I thought the story was over, we followed God to our final two children so we must be finished. God however, had more blessings to give. On the plane ride back from China with Sophie in my lap I had an overwhelming and emotional desire to immediately go back for more of the orphans left behind in China. This indeed sounded crazy, we had adopted two children in 6 months but my husband didn’t dismiss my desire as unimportant or completely out of the question. Andy did have more insight to give. Andy felt what God had laid on my heart was a call to help more orphans find their families. After further reflection Andy added that we should finance these adoption through Naomi’s fund, which was set up in response to our daughter death only a few years earlier. We quickly felt led to commit ourselves to 40 adoptions through God’s inspiration.

So it began...

Our foundation is called Naomi’s Fund. The fund is set up through Lifesong for Orphans. It is completely not for profit, tax deductible and 100% of the money given goes directly to families who apart from receiving financial assistance would not be able to adopt a child.
